AceShowbiz - Josh Seiter, a former "The Bachelorette" star who identified as male during her appearance on Kaitlyn Bristowe's season in 2015, has come out as a trans woman and openly shared her decision to forgo hormone treatment and surgery.
Despite facing death threats and criticism from some members of the LGBTQ+ community, Seiter stands firm in her belief that one does not need medical interventions to identify as a woman.
"I fear for my safety all the time," she said. "I am getting a lot of hate from the LGBTQ+ community and the conservatives are giving me death threats saying they want to murder me."
Raised in a conservative Christian household, Seiter struggled with her gender identity from a young age. After coming out as pansexual in 2021, the loss of her father in April this year marked a turning point in her journey towards self-expression. She publicly came out as transgender the following month.
Besides facing backlash from public, Seiter has drawn criticism from some members of her own family. However, she maintains that her transition is a personal journey, and she does not conform to societal expectations of how a trans woman should present. She emphasizes that there isn't one right way to be trans.
Amid the overwhelming abuse she has faced, Seiter has found support from her mother who, despite being a Christian, has been open-minded and accepting.
