AceShowbiz - Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum's contentious divorce battle has continued for over five years following the end of their marriage in 2018. Despite Dewan's efforts to reach a private settlement, Tatum's unwillingness to compromise has delayed the process.
Sources close to Dewan reveal that she has repeatedly attempted to resolve the financial aspects of the divorce behind closed doors, protecting Tatum and his "Magic Mike" image from public scrutiny. However, the legal dispute continues due to Tatum's unrealistic expectations about the division of marital assets under California law.
An insider predicts that the case will drag on indefinitely until Tatum becomes more reasonable. The former couple, who share 11-year-old daughter Everly, have not disclosed if a prenuptial agreement was in place.
Recent legal filings indicate heightened tensions. Dewan's lawyers have accused Tatum's team of using delaying tactics, while Tatum has accused Dewan of attempting to stall the trial for a third time.
Tatum has filed a motion to dismiss Dewan's request for his lawyers to be disqualified from representing him, calling it a "delay tactic" with no legal basis. Tatum also argues that Dewan has never been a client of his lawyers and does not possess any confidential information that would give them an unfair advantage.
In addition, Tatum has asked the court to order Dewan to reimburse him $20,000 for legal fees incurred due to her alleged stalling.
Tatum has previously accused Dewan of slowing down the legal process by making vague financial claims, such as alleging that he concealed earnings from the "Magic Mike" franchise. However, Tatum denies these claims and has stated that he has consistently attempted to resolve the case amicably through mediation.
The prolonged court battle has created a significant financial burden for both parties. Dewan has sought spousal support, while Tatum has incurred substantial legal fees. It is unclear when the divorce will finally be finalized.
