AceShowbiz - Executive producer Andy Harries of Left Bank Pictures, which produced "The Crown", believes the show has "endless potential" for additional exploration. Thanks to a deal made early in Netflix's existence, Left Bank Pictures retains the rights to the series, providing them with numerous opportunities to continue the narrative.
Harries hints at the possibility of future projects related to "The Crown", saying, "We could go back or we could go on. There's plenty of potential, which at some point, I suspect we'll return to." The show covered Queen Elizabeth II's reign from just before her wedding in 1947 until the early 21st century.
Speculation about spinoffs has been circulating for some time. Deadline reported in 2022 that Netflix and Left Bank Productions were considering a prequel, and creator Peter Morgan has also expressed interest in revisiting the story.
Numerous periods in history could be explored in a spin-off. The pre-World War II era, King George VI's reign, or Queen Victoria's long reign could all be potential subjects. Alternatively, a spinoff could continue the story beyond 2005, covering events such as Prince William's wedding, Prince Harry's marriage, and the recent transition to King Charles III's reign.
"The Crown" has received critical acclaim, earning 87 Emmy nominations and 21 wins. It is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series once more this year, along with various acting nominations for its cast.
Fans of the series can eagerly anticipate the potential for further installments of "The Crown" 's captivating narrative, whether it be through spinoffs or specials, as the show continues to offer endless possibilities for storytelling and exploration of the British Royal Family.
