AceShowbiz - Yvette Nicole Brown will reprise her role as the devoutly religious Greendale student in the upcoming "Community" movie, she revealed in an interview with Parade. "The long-delayed Peacock project 'will happen!' " she exclaimed. "We don't know when, but I'm on board."
The "Community" movie, officially ordered by Peacock in September 2022, will reunite Brown with co-stars Joel McHale (Jeff), Gillian Jacobs (Britta), Alison Brie (Annie), Donald Glover (Troy), Danny Pudi (Abed) and Jim Rash (Dean Pelton). The plot reportedly revolves around a college reunion at Greendale, with Abed returning to campus as a big-time movie director.
Brown co-starred as Shirley in all six seasons of "Community", which debuted on NBC in 2009. While she only appeared in the season 6 premiere and finale, Brown's return to the movie is sure to delight fans.
Filming for the "Community" movie was initially set to begin in June 2023 but was delayed by last year's Hollywood strikes. McHale recently confirmed that production will now commence "vaguely" in 2025. He also shut down rumors that further delays are due to Donald Glover's unavailability.
Creator Dan Harmon has previously asked fans to stop harassing Glover about the project's delays, emphasizing that no single person is responsible for the obstacles. "The timescale is so different for us than for the fans. The frustrating thing is that our engine moves so slowly and so easily gets derailed and stuck," Harmon said.
While Glover's official involvement in the movie has not been confirmed, he is still expected to return. McHale, who announced the project in October 2022, expressed his excitement about the reunion. "We announced it. Peacock is paying for it, thank you Peacock. So yeah, it's happening and everybody's back," McHale said. "There will be tears."
