AceShowbiz - Aaron Rodgers's parents, Ed and Darla Rodgers, thought the NFL star's then-girlfriend Olivia Munn was the reason for their family rift. A new biography claimed that the actress was to blame for the athlete's decision to cut off contact with his devout parents for nine years.
In "Out of the Darkness: The Mystery of Aaron Rodgers", sports journalist Ian O'Connor claimed that their family discord started in 2014 after Aaron began dating "The Newsroom" actress. Darla said that she was mortified that Olivia was having sex with her son before marriage.
Not stopping there, Aaron's mom was even more shocked when Olivia claimed in an interview that they didn't do it on game days. "Given her devout religious views, Aaron's mother disapproved of premarital sex and was opposed to her middle child sharing a hotel room with his girlfriend even as an NFL player," Ian wrote in the book.
According to the author, "Darla did not appreciate how Munn joked about oral sex in an interview or how she publicly talked about her sex life with Aaron just before that loss at Buffalo."
Olivia made the admission during her appearance on "Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen" back in December 2014. At the time, the host asked her if she had sex with the then-Green Bay Packers quarterback on game days. "No, we don't. Not on game days. There's not a rule, but it just doesn't happen because there are other things to focus on," she explained.
However, the "X-Men: Apocalypse" star claimed that they would sometimes have sex after the games. "It depends on how late the game is…I try to have sex as much as I can." she said. A source claimed that Olivia was "saying all that s**t and it pissed off Darla, really pissed her off."
Ed also accused Olivia of lying about encouraging Aaron to patch things up with his parents. The tension only grew when she allegedly "insulted" Aaron's parents by sending back Christmas presents that they bought her and their son. It was also said that Olivia told Aaron that he shouldn't let his family "do any fame and fortune chasing through him."
Aaron, however, denied the parents' claims, saying in the book that his ex-girlfriend had "nothing to do" with the deep tension with his parents. "I have questions about why they feel the need to talk about it, because it's like a game of poker," he said. "When you are holding all the cards, you don't have to bluff. There's nothing they can say other than make up stories but look at the facts."
Olivia and Aaron broke up in 2017. The actress is now married to comedian John Mulaney, with whom shares one child, Malcolm Hiep Mulaney.
