During a recent episode of her podcast "misSPELLING", the 51-year-old actress discussed the "final blowout fight" that led to the divorce, noting that it originated from McDermott. Despite the tumultuous separation, Spelling expressed that she was ready for it.
Regarding photos of McDermott with his new girlfriend Lily Calo, Spelling admitted that they don't bother her. She explained that she grieved the relationship during its course, so when the breakup occurred, she had already processed her emotions. Spelling also praised Calo for being "amazing" and grateful that she is around her children.
McDermott's Instagram post announcing his relationship with Calo was met with some criticism towards Spelling for liking it. However, McDermott came to her defense, commending her for being a "highly evolved and compassionate loving person."
Spelling has also spoken about the "odd" lack of jealousy she felt towards McDermott's new relationship. She admitted that she used to wonder how she would react to seeing him with someone else but now she feels "nothing." Spelling emphasized that she and McDermott are now "in a good place" and focused on co-parenting their five children.
Both Spelling and McDermott have been open about their new relationships within their family dynamic. Spelling revealed that they still have family dinners together, which Calo also attends. She has also expressed that they are co-parenting effectively, with the children being happy with McDermott's progress and proud of his girlfriend.
