AceShowbiz - Jessica Simpson has shut down an online user who assumed that she was still drinking. Firing back, the former "Newlyweds" star revealed that she's actually been sober for nearly seven years.

The 44-year-old was forced to deal with the critic after posting a black-and-white photo of her son Ace, 11, on Instagram on Monday, August 5. In the caption, she wrote, "I'm gonna be a braggin' Mom for a moment and just say that I have the kindest, most handsome 11yr old son on the planet."

"Fun fact: we both find lucky pennies randomly every other week and use them to WIN my scratchers together," the musician added. "Mama loves you Ace Knute Johnson- OH SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!"

While most commenters left positive feedback, one person attacked Jessica out of nowhere by writing, "STOP DRINKING!" In response, the musician replied, "I haven't wanted or touched alcohol since October 2017 and it has been the best decision I've made for myself and for my family."

"Thank you for your concern, but you have me very misunderstood. Sending love your way," the "Irresistible" songstress continued. Her kind response prompted the user to apologize by writing, "I'm so happy to hear that!! Sorry for my misunderstanding. Sending love to you as well."

When celebrating six years of sobriety last year, Jessica wrote on Instagram, "I had so much self discovery to unlock and explore." She added, "I knew in this very moment I would allow myself to take back my light, show victory over my internal battle of self respect, and brave this world with piercing clarity."

Jessica explained that she needed to stop drinking alcohol because it "exhausted" her to have her "mind and heart circling in the same direction." She continued, "I wanted to feel the pain so I could carry it like a badge of honor... I wanted to live as a leader does and break cycles to advance forward- never looking back with regret and remorse over any choice I have made and would make for the rest of my time here within this beautiful world."
