AceShowbiz - It's Deadpool's world, and we're just living in it! Marvel Studios' latest film "Deadpool & Wolverine" has not only taken the box office by storm but has also delighted fans with an array of blink-and-you'll-miss-it surprises.
During its second weekend at the box office, "Deadpool & Wolverine" scored an impressive $97 million in North America, raising its 10-day total to $395.6 million. This achievement has allowed it to surpass "The Passion of the Christ" to become the highest-grossing R-Rated film in U.S. history. Internationally, the movie earned $110.5 million, bringing its worldwide total to $824.1 million. The team-up starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman is expected to cross the $1 billion mark within days, eyeing the title of the highest-grossing R-Rated movie of all time over "Joker".
Aside from its record-breaking success, Marvel Studios has been feeding the frenzy by releasing tantalizing teasers. One such teaser highlights significant cameos from some notable characters. In quick flashes, fans can spot Blade (Wesley Snipes), Elektra (Jennifer Garner) and Gambit (Channing Tatum). There's also a glimpse of Laura/X-23 (Dafne Keen), whose appearance had been revealed prior to the film's release.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Wesley Snipes spoke about his return to the Marvel universe. "Over the years, we've had very interesting conversations, some of them very substantive and some of them not," Snipes shared. He added that he had moved on from his role in "Blade", not expecting a return until Ryan Reynolds approached him with the idea. "When you get a call from Ryan Reynolds out of the blue after 20 years, you go, 'Okay, I got to take this call. Let's see what this is about,' " Snipes explained.
Likewise, Ryan Reynolds emphasized the broader appeal of "Deadpool & Wolverine" in a marketing release. "Disney probably doesn't want me to frame it this way, but I've always thought of 'Deadpool & Wolverine' as the first four-quadrant, R-rated film. Yes, it's rated R, but we set out to make a movie with enough laughs, action and heart to appeal to everyone, whether you're a comic book movie fan or not," Reynolds said.
Directed by Shawn Levy and written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells & Shawn Levy, "Deadpool & Wolverine" stars a remarkable ensemble including Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni and Matthew Macfadyen. The movie is produced by Kevin Feige, Reynolds, Levy and Lauren Shuler Donner, alongside several executive producers.
"Deadpool & Wolverine" continues to play in theaters, so grab your tickets and witness the superhero spectacle that's redefining the genre!
