The 20-year-old son has been released from the ICU after suffering complex trauma in an e-bike accident in Los Angeles. He is now starting a long road of recovery and physical therapy.

AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son, Pax Jolie-Pitt, has been released from the ICU following his e-bike accident on July 29. According to a source, Pax suffered "complex trauma" in the crash and now faces a "long road of recovery and physical therapy."

The source told PEOPLE that Pax and his mother, Angelina Jolie, 49, "are deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received." Jolie remains by her son's side, as do his siblings, who have been visiting and helping.

Pax was hospitalized after the accident on Los Feliz Boulevard in Los Angeles. TMZ reported that he was not wearing a helmet when he collided with a car that had stopped at a red light. Witnesses said Pax complained of hip pain and a head injury.

Along with Pax, Jolie shares five other children with ex-husband Brad Pitt: Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, Shiloh, 18, and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

Angelina and Brad, 60, have been in a messy court battle over custody and assets since their 2016 divorce. However, their focus is currently on their son's well-being.

Despite the ongoing legal issues, Jolie has maintained a close relationship with her children. She has said, "I've wanted [my kids] to be exposed to it all," referring to the entertainment industry. "It's a part of their life, but it's not important to them in a way that's unhealthy."

Pax's accident has been a reminder of the importance of safety when riding electric bicycles. In California, it is required for bike and motorcycle riders under 18 to wear helmets.

As Pax begins his recovery, his family, friends and the public send their well wishes for a speedy and full recovery.
