Tara Furiani, a business consultant and friend of Doherty, took to LinkedIn to express her dismay and sadness over the actress's passing. She alleged that Iswarienko's lack of decency caused profound pain and suffering for Doherty during the final months of her life.
According to Furiani, Doherty had stage 4 breast cancer that had metastasized, making her death inevitable. However, she had made peace with her diagnosis. Despite this, Furiani claimed that Iswarienko's actions intensified her pain.
Furiani also echoed Doherty's accusations that Iswarienko had intentionally delayed the divorce process to avoid paying spousal support. She stated that Doherty had lost significant income, including her SAG insurance, and that Iswarienko had dragged his feet in court to avoid making a judgment or payment before her death.
In response to Furiani's allegations, a lawyer for Iswarienko denied Doherty's claims, stating that Iswarienko had wanted to finalize the divorce with a settlement deal in September 2023, but she had rejected it.
Doherty passed away on July 13 at the age of 53, surrounded by her loved ones. Her death has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, and many of her co-stars have paid tribute to her memory.
