The 65-year-old actor, known for his role in 'Footloose', recalls his experiment to live as a normal person for an afternoon and realizes the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Bacon, famously known for his roles in iconic films like "Footloose" and "Apollo 13", recently tried to experience life as an average Joe. However, his day incognito proved that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

In a revealing interview with Vanity Fair, Bacon shared his long-held fantasy of living a day in the shoes of a non-celebrity. Curious about what it would be like to navigate the world without the recognition that comes with stardom, Bacon committed to an elaborate transformation. "I'm not complaining, but I have a face that's pretty recognizable," Bacon noted, emphasizing the challenge of avoiding public recognition given his extensive career in Hollywood.

To prepare for his day undercover, Bacon sought the expertise of a special effects makeup artist, who equipped him with prosthetics, including a new nose, fake teeth and glasses. His altered appearance made him blend seamlessly with the crowd at The Grove, a well-known outdoor shopping mall in Los Angeles.

Despite achieving his goal of anonymity, Bacon's excitement waned quickly as he encountered the realities of blending in. "Nobody recognized me," he recounted, adding, "People were kind of pushing past me, not being nice." Bacon's absence of celebrity perks became evident when he found himself waiting in line like everyone else. "I had to wait in line to, I don't know, buy a f**king coffee or whatever," he groused. The lack of fan affection and special treatment led Bacon to a swift realization, "I was like, 'This sucks. I want to go back to being famous.' "

Kevin Bacon's extensive four-decade-long career has solidified his status as a beloved Hollywood icon. Since his breakout role in 1984's "Footloose", Bacon has starred in numerous films and television shows, achieving a level of fame that has even inspired the trivia game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon". But his recent experiment underscores just how ingrained his celebrity status is in his life.

Reflecting on his normalcy quest, Bacon still maintains a strong appreciation for his career and the recognition that comes with it. Married to actress Kyra Sedgwick since 1988, with whom he shares two children, he continues to navigate the balance of fame and personal life. Bacon can currently be seen in "Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F" opposite Eddie Murphy and will soon grace the screen in the 1980s-set horror film "MaXXXine".

Ultimately, Kevin Bacon's brief retreat into anonymity was a stark reminder that, while the idea of a private, unrecognized life may seem appealing, the reality might not always live up to the fantasy.
