The lifestyle icon responds to negative comments on her newly decorated Maine living room, defending her interior design choices and sharing her vision for the space.

AceShowbiz - On Wednesday, July 3, Martha Stewart took to Instagram to share photos of her recently renovated Maine living room, sparking an array of reactions from her followers. While some admired the transformation, others expressed harsh criticism.

Stewart, 82, expressed surprise over the negative feedback, stating that she and her "Maine helpers" spent hours rearranging the room to create a comfortable and inviting space. She emphasized that it was not a "decorator's" professional installation but a quick and efficient makeover.

"Making a house a home takes more than three hours," Stewart wrote, acknowledging that further enhancements are planned, including the addition of color, plants, and artwork. She also highlighted the beauty of the bird chromo lithographs by Carroll Tyson, known as the "6 Audubon of Maine."

The living room features cream-colored chairs and couches with black detailing, arranged around a brick fireplace adorned with large drawings of various birds. Stewart explained that she preserved much of the original charm of the 1925 house, purchased from automobile executive Edsel Ford.

Despite the criticism, Stewart remains committed to her vision for Skylands, her vacation home in Maine. She sees herself as a caretaker of the estate's classic charm and believes that age should not dictate one's fashion or home decor choices.

Stewart's response garnered support from many who applauded her for embracing her style and challenging societal norms. She believes that people of all ages should feel and look fabulous, regardless of their age.
