AceShowbiz - Joey King has been a steadfast champion of Sabrina Carpenter's flourishing music career. When making an appearance at the "Despicable Me 4" premiere at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City on Sunday, June 9, "The Act" star, 24, expressed her heartfelt joy for the "Espresso" singer, 25.
"Yesterday is the first time I've seen her perform in a few years because every time that I wanted to go to one of her big shows, our schedules kind of miss each other," King told People, reflecting on Carpenter's captivating performance at the Governors Ball music festival on Saturday, June 8. "I literally was sobbing after the show. I was so proud of her. She's just amazing."
Joey King's enthusiasm doesn't stop there. She is particularly taken with Carpenter's new hit, "Please Please Please", which boasts production by Taylor Swift's longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff. "I'm so happy for her and I just can't stop singing 'Please Please Please'.. get out of my head," King said. She humorously added, "It's so rude of her to make a hit like that. It's also so rude to make such an addicting music video," referring to the video featuring Carpenter's boyfriend, Barry Keoghan.
The music video portrays a dramatic relationship between Carpenter's character and a trouble-ridden but endearing jailbird played by Keoghan. Their romance is marked by whirlwind adventures that exemplify Carpenter's plea, "Please, please, please/ Don't prove 'em right," as she tries to reign in his bad-boy antics.
