Dua Lipa Likely Challenges Ariana Grande for Megara Role in Live-Action 'Hercules'

The 'Levitating' songstress, who made her acting debut in 2023's 'Barbie', is rumored to be another named considered for the female lead role in the upcoming Disney movie.

AceShowbiz - Dua Lipa is aiming big for her next big screen project. Having made her acting debut in 2023's "Barbie", the English-Albanian singer/songwriter is rumored to be on the run for a role in Disney's live-action "Hercules" movie.

According to reliable Disney source the Disinsider, the three-time Grammy winner is among names being considered for the role of Megara. "Not saying anyone should run with this as 100% fact but a name I hear Disney likes right now is Dua Lipa," the site responded to an inquiry if there's another actress being considered for the role of Meg besides Ariana Grande.

Should this be true, Dua and Ariana will be pitted against against for the female lead role in the upcoming movie. The "7 Rings" singer's name has earlier circulated online since last year as a frontrunner for the role of Megara, the love interest of the Greek hero.

As for the male lead part, Taron Egerton was rumored to be eyed for the titular role in the movie, which has had Guy Ritchie attached to direct. At one point, Disney reportedly wanted Austin Butler to lead the movie, but now the studio reportedly wants the "Elvis" actor for the next "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie.

Another actor rumored to star in the film was Danny DeVito. The veteran actor may play Phil, Hercules' loyal trainer.

"Avengers: Endgame" directors Joe and Anthony Russo are on board as producers for the live-action "Hercules", which has been in development at the studio since 2022. However, updates have been a few and no cast has been officially announced for the project.

While Ariana will next shine through the upcoming "Wicked" movie, Dua recently starred in Matthew Vaughn's spy action comedy film "Argylle". The movie features a star-studded cast that includes Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston and many others.
