The network announces on its social media that it surprisingly has made the entire first season of 'Last Week Tonight with John Oliver' available for free on YouTube.

AceShowbiz - In an unexpected move, HBO has released the entire first season of "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" on YouTube. The announcement was made via X, formerly known as Twitter.

"There's no new episode this week! But we still have current events. From 10 years ago. This Sunday we'll be dropping all of season 1 for free on YouTube!" read the post.

The post also hinted at the release of future seasons, stating, "Seasons 2-8 to come, whenever we don't have a new episode. Trust us, some of this is still completely relevant. Some."

Previously, episodes of "Last Week Tonight" were uploaded on YouTube the day after their original airing. However, starting with Season 11, HBO decided to delay its release on social media platforms in an effort to boost viewership on Max, its streaming service.

Oliver had expressed his dissatisfaction with this move, stating, "I hope they change their mind." However, no further conversations have taken place between him and HBO on the matter.

Despite the delay in YouTube releases, Last Week Tonight has remained popular, with 11 seasons and 299 episodes released to date. The show has tackled various topics, including maternity leave, televangelism, LGBTQ+ rights, Voter ID laws, and Donald Trump's presidential campaign. It has received 61 Emmy Award nominations and won 28 of them.

In India, "Last Week Tonight" is streaming on JioCinema.
