The 'Selling Sunset' star has to go under the knife as she opens up about the latest setback she and her husband Romain Bonnet are facing amidst their effort to conceive a baby.

AceShowbiz - "Selling Sunset" star Mary Fitzgerald, 43, has revealed that her fertility journey has become "complicated" since her septic miscarriage in March. Fitzgerald underwent an MRI scan, full body scan, and will require uterine surgery.

"It's gonna be an interesting process," she told Us Weekly. "It's not going to be as easy as we thought it would."

Fitzgerald and her husband, Romain Bonnet, 30, began IVF after conceiving on their honeymoon to Bali, but the pregnancy ended in a septic miscarriage. "I had to go in for surgery for that," she said.

Despite the setbacks, Fitzgerald remains optimistic. "I've had plenty of time to process," she said. "I think that I've really taken a stance, and it's become a passion of mine to raise awareness for women's issues."

Bonnet supports his wife, "I don't want to put any pressure. Obviously, if it happens, that would be great. … We're gonna see how it goes."

Fitzgerald has shared her fertility journey publicly, believing it to be a common experience. "I think it's so common now," she said. "I'm being very forward on that front. But when it comes to myself, there's not a lot I can do about it. Whatever happens, happens but in the meantime, I'm going to try to help other women."

Septic miscarriage occurs when a woman develops an infection in the uterus. It can cause chills, fever, vaginal discharge, bleeding, and rapid heart rate. Surgery is required to remove the cause of the infection. Treatment for septic miscarriage includes intensive antibiotic therapy and uterine evacuation.

Fitzgerald's openness about her fertility journey has been met with support. "I'm going to try to do this without crying, it's taken me a few weeks to say everything that's been going on," she said on Instagram. "We won't be giving up… and if this message speaks to you in any way or you are feeling down, helpless, alone… please know we are in this together. Hang in there…"
