AceShowbiz - Singer/songwriter Paloma Faith has revealed that her heartbreak over her split from ex-husband Leyman Lachine in 2022 "will be forever" due to their ongoing co-parenting relationship.

The couple married in 2017 and welcomed two daughters before parting ways after nine years together. Speaking on the podcast "Great Company", Faith explained that the constant reminders of her ex-husband make it difficult to fully move on.

"And that's what makes this a different type of heartbreak album. The heartbreak will be forever and the navigation of our relationship changing shape will be forever, probably until we die," she said.

Faith admitted that the split was particularly challenging because the pair still love each other. "It's even harder, I think in a way, because we really liked each other a lot. We're really close and we still love each other and that makes it confusing. That's really sad. So it's sort of heartbreaking. Every time we see each other it's just very raw because of the kids," she shared.

In March, Faith revealed that the breakdown of their marriage was largely due to her inability to give Lachine the same level of attention as before they had children. "Our relationship ended because we have those children. And I think that was worth it," she said at the time.

However, Faith also acknowledged that the pain has eased as she and Lachine have developed a more positive co-parenting relationship. "I have a really good relationship with the kids' dad so sometimes it's like, 'What are we doing? Why are we not together?' But the key to the success of our relationship now is absence of expectation. Expectation leads to disappointment," she explained.

Despite the difficulties of co-parenting, Faith has emphasized that she feels "the lack of resentment is so tangible" since her separation from Lachine. "I just felt like I did not have the capacity to be a mother to anyone other than my children. You lose your entire identity, and not only have you got to adapt and get used to this new person [the baby], you have to learn and get used to yourself again," she said.

Faith's heartbreak has inspired her new album, "The Glorification of Sadness", which chronicles the stages of grief she went through after the split. She has stated that the album is not a "revenge album" and that Lachine will not listen to it.
