In a heartfelt tribute, Purcell expressed his deep love and respect for his father, acknowledging that his wish for his children was to see them grow, flourish, and surpass him. Despite knowing he could not surpass his father, Purcell vowed to strive to be like him.
Purcell also honored his wife, Tish Cyrus, for the love and care she extended to his father, describing their bond as "magnificent." He thanked her for playing music that brought Joseph peace in his final hours.
In addition, Purcell urged his extended family to celebrate his father's life by following the lessons he taught and embodying the qualities he held dear: strength, dignity, and humility.
"As I write, it becomes clear to me that a worded tribute to my dad is not fair play ... Such was his distain for fuss and bother," Purcell concluded. "His humility was perfect."
Tish Cyrus also shared her grief in the comments section, recalling a special day when she married Purcell and shared a walk with Joseph. "To know Joe was to love him ... Being loved by him is something I'll never take for granted," she wrote.
The loss of Dominic Purcell's father comes amid reports of drama within the Cyrus family, with sources alleging that Noah Cyrus was dating Purcell before he began a relationship with her mother, Tish. Insiders have stated that the couple is working on their relationship through therapy because of it.
