AceShowbiz - Darius Rucker got into a legal trouble. According to a new report, the country singer was arrested and booked on three misdemeanor charges in Williamson County, Tennessee on Thursday, February 1.
Following the arrest, the Hootie & the Blowfish frontman issued a statement to TMZ. "Darius Rucker is fully cooperating with authorities related to misdemeanor charges," Darius' attorney Mark Puryear said.
The news outlet revealed that Darius was arrested for two counts of simple possession/casual exchange of a controlled substance and one count of a violation of the state's vehicle registration law.
It is not known what led to Darius' arrest, but police allegedly said the musician was driving with an expired registration tag. It was further said that the 57-year-old was released shortly after he posted the $10,500 bail.
It wasn't the first time Darius made headlines for drug-related issues. Back in September 2021, the singer's ex-girlfriend Kate Quigley was hospitalized following a drug overdose. Updating her condition, he shared at the time, "You know, she's doing great. She's coming out of that. I'm glad that she's doing that."
Kate, who is a comedian, allegedly used cocaine that was laced with fentanyl at a neighbor's party with friends Fuquan Johnson, Enrico Colangeli and Natalie Williamson. Fuquan, Enrico and Natalie died following the incident. Darius, who reportedly stopped dating the blond beauty earlier that year, added, "My heart goes out to all the other victims, but [Kate] is doing OK."
That aside, the arrest came a few weeks after Darius was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last December. In his speech, the guitarist gave his three kids, Carolyn (28), Daniella (22) and Jack (18), a loving shoutout. "Cary, Dani and Jack are my heart, they're my soul," he said. "They're everything to me and everything I do is for them."
"It's just been an amazing thing to be your father," he continued. "As great as all this stuff is, it's not as cool as being your dad, and I really mean that. I love you guys so much."
