'Magnificent Seven' Actor Cedric Jones' 'Sudden' Death Leaves His Family in Shock

His company Beastie Boxing says in a statement posted on Instagram that the personal trainer/actor passed away on October 16, prompting a tribute from director Antoine Fuqua.

AceShowbiz - Actor Cedric Jones has passed away, leaving a hole in the heart of those closest to him. The actor, who starred in films including "The Magnificent Seven" and "The Terminal List" with his friend Chris Pratt, died suddenly on October 16, according to his company Beastie Boxing.

In a statement posted on Instagram on Saturday, October 20, the gym shared the sad news, "It is with a heavy heart the we announce the passing of Beastie Boxing Gym Founder, Cedric 'Beastie' Jones." They remembered Cedric as "a loving father, devoted husband, caring son, brother, community leader, and incredible friend who inspired others. He genuinely wanted everyone to become the best version of themselves. He was a gift."

The company added, "Cedric had dedicated his life to helping people in and out of the gym. As founder of both Beastie Boxing and the BMoved Foundation, he inspired and helped people achieve what they previously thought impossible. Thank you for building our community, Cedric. We will always miss you."

Details surrounding his death have not been disclosed, but according to Daily Mail, his "sudden" passing has left his wife Barbie Jones and three children in shock. In another statement posted on Saturday, Beastie Boxing wrote, "Unfortunately for us all, Cedric's time with us has come and gone. He leaves behind a loving wife and three lovely minor children."

"It is now his family who needs our help," they said, before imploring Cedric's fans and friends to "contribute to a fund that will help cover some immediate financial needs for a family that has dedicated their lives to helping others."

Mourning his death, Antoine Fuqua shared a video of Cedric praying to God. In the caption, the filmmaker wrote, "R.I.P to my good brother and friend. You were always the light in the room and on the set. You will be deeply missed and forever loved. MAY THE WIND ALWAYS BE UNDER YOUR WINGS CHAMP as you ascend into the Heavens. Dream team forever."

Cedric's friend Kat Samick, who worked with him in "The Terminal List", told Daily Mail, "We will all miss your light and positive attitude and huge heart Cedric. Prayers and love to his family." Digilio Films added, "It's with heavy heart that the TLIST family says goodbye to Cedric."

"Cedric owned a local boxing gym where I used to train. He was a fierce fighter, loving father, but also a dear friend to our Antoine Fuqua," the company continued. "When it came time to make 'The Terminal List', I discovered an audition from Cedric. Had no idea he was pursuing the dream."

The statement continued to read, "To me he was just the guy humbly kicking my ass at the gym. Antoine, Chris Pratt and I, along with our fellow producing team, found a spot for Cedric on Steve Horn's security detail, and his work will live on in some of the best episodes of season one. We are sending love to Cedric's family, and sharing some details of ways to support or join in the memorial this weekend."

Cedric had been homeless in Compton, California before getting into fitness and eventually becoming a gym owner. As an actor, his credits also included "Southpaw" (2015), "Princess of the Row" (2019) and "Marshall County" (2013). He was 46 years old.
