AceShowbiz - Shareef O'Neal isn't in the mood to joke around. The son of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal fired back at an online troll who jokingly blamed Shareef for Bronny James' scary medical emergency on Monday, July 24.
After Bronny suffered cardiac arrest during practice at University of Southern California, the troll wrote on Twitter suggesting that Shareef, who underwent open heart surgery in 2018, had something to do with his friend's recent health scare. "Bronny started hanging with Shareef and now look," the troll wrote. "@SSJreef stay yo a** away from him he's destined for greatness not overseas."
Catching wind of the rude comment, Shareef fired back in a now-deleted tweet, "That is very disrespectful of you to say." He added, "I've been around Bronny for a very long time before this happened … I'll pray for you. You need help … sick that you would even say something like that #dummy."
Bronny was rushed to a hospital after suffering cardiac arrest during a basketball workout at University of Southern California on Monday. According to TMZ, a 911 call was made at 9:26 A.M. Monday from USC's Galen Center as the rising basketball star was unconscious. Sources told the news outlet that his condition was considered a Code 3, meaning that the ambulance had lights and sirens going to signify the seriousness of the emergency.
Following the health scare, a family spokesperson addressed his condition in a statement that read, "Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest. Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU."
"We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information," the statement went on to read. It's also said that LeBron and his wife Savannah James "wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes."
