The 'Luv' rapper makes desperate plea to judge David Herriford to not 'ruin' his life as he appears in a Los Angeles courtroom before the judge issues his ruling on Tuesday, May 9.

AceShowbiz - Tory Lanez is trying to play the sympathy card with judge ahead of ruling in his motion for a new trial in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case. On Monday, May 8, the Canadian native begged judge David Herriford to spare his life.

According to journalist Meghann Cuniff who tweeted out from the hearing, Lanez appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom with his attorneys, Matthew Barhoma and Jose Baez. He made a desperate plea to the judge, saying, "Please don't ruin my life. I could be your son. I could be your brother," before he was led out in handcuffs.

As for how the hearing went down, Cuniff reported, "The argument was all over the place, but it ended with Barhoma and Baez upset that Judge Herriford said he doesn't need to hear testimony from the defense experts who submitted declarations because their declarations cover it. When Baez was complaining about not being allowed to call witnesses, Judge Herriford told him he knows he doesn't practice law in this jurisdiction, but in this jurisdiction, this is how motions for new trial work."

Lanez's lawyers later spoke with reporters outside the courtroom and said this is only the beginning of a long process. "We're not going to stop until we get him out," Baez stressed.

Judge Herriford is going to issue his ruling on Tuesday, May 9 at 10:30 A.M.

In December 2022, Lanez was found guilty of shooting Stallion in the back of her feet following a verbal altercation after a party at Kylie Jenner's house in July 2020. He was charged with one felony count each of assault with a semi-automatic firearm and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He was also convicted of an additional felony count of discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

In late March, his attorney filed an appeal, claiming prosecutors tried to dirty him up with "irrelevant evidence." In April, Lanez penned an open letter to L.A. County District Attorney George Gascon, claiming he was "illegally" convicted "of a crime [he] did not commit."

"For 3 years, the prosecution has manipulated a false narrative, that has left me with no choice but to expose, and make aware, the practices, the behind door deals, and the unjust system used to illegally convict me and countless other minorities," he claimed.

The 30-year-old ended the letter with a heartfelt plea for a fair trial. "Mr. Gascon, I come to you today as a wrongfully convicted man, not asking for sympathy, nor compassion, but for you to simply do what is fair and right by the laws of California, and most importantly in the eyes of God," he concluded.
