Ne-Yo Slaps Former Mistress With Legal Papers Demanding DNA Test for Their Younger Child

The 'Miss Independent' hitmaker declares in court documents that he has supported Sade Bagnerise's kids financially although he has doubts about fathering the youngest one.

AceShowbiz - Ne-Yo has slapped his ex-girlfriend Sade Bagnerise with legal papers regarding one of their children. The "Miss Independent" hitmaker reportedly requested a DNA test to make sure that Sade's younger child, Brixton Bagnerise, is his.

While he had doubts about Brixton, the 43-year-old singer acknowledged that he's the father of Sade's older child, Braiden Bagnerise. According to court documents obtained by, Braiden was born in 2021 while Brixton was born in February 2023.

In the docs, Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Chimere Smith, claimed it would be the best option if he and Sade share "joint physical custody of the minor children." He additionally said he desires a "liberal parenting time schedule" with the kids.

Despite requesting the paternity test, Ne-Yo declared that he has supported the kids financially. He also wanted the court to determine the child support amounts he should pay. In addition, he wants Braiden's name changed to Smith, but it is unclear whether he will do the same to Brixton once the result is confirmed.

Ne-Yo romanced Sade while he was still married to Crystal Smith a.k.a. Crystal Renay Williams. Crystal herself filed a divorce from him in August 2022 after six years of marriage for his infidelity. Their divorce was finalized on January 26.

The former spouses share three children Shaffer Jr., six, Roman, four, and Isabella, 20 months. He is also a father to Madilyn, 12, and Mason, 11, from his relationship with ex-girlfriend Monyetta Shaw.

Ne-Yo is seemingly still single following his divorce from Crystal and his split from Sade. In late April the Grammy winner told TMZ that he isn't dating anyone and he is "in a space where [he's] happy."
