The Academy Confirms Rihanna's Performance at 2023 Oscars

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that the Barbadian singer, who gets a nomination for best original song for 'Lift Me Up' From 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever', will perform on the March 12 live telecast.

AceShowbiz - Rihanna remains active while expecting her second child with A$AP Rocky. Following up her Super Bowl halftime show, the Barbadian singer/songwriter will take the stage at the upcoming 95th annual Academy Awards.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced on Thursday, February 23 that the Grammy Award-winning artist will perform on the Oscars telecast on March 12. She will presumably perform "Lift Me Up" from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever", which is nominated for best original song.

Rihanna co-wrote the song with Tems, Ryan Coogler and Ludwig Goransson. The song, which marks her first solo musical release since her 2016 studio album "Anti", received critical acclaims and debuted at No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song also gives Rihanna her first Oscar nomination. Other songs vying for the best original song award are Diane Warren's "Applause" from "Tell It Like a Woman", Lady GaGa's "Hold My Hand" from "Top Gun: Maverick", "Naatu Naatu" from "RRR" and David Byrne's "This Is a Life" from "Everything Everywhere All at Once".

The 2023 Oscars will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and is set to air on ABC on Sunday, March 12 starting at 8 P.M. ET/ 5 P.M. PT, live from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles. Other performers and presenters will be announced in the coming days.

Rihanna recently drew big audiences with her Super Bowl performance. Her performance at the State Farm Stadium during a game between Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles was reported to have reached a total of 118.7 million viewers.

It has become the second most-watched Super Bowl halftime show of all time. Katy Perry still holds the title for the most-watched Super Bowl halftime show of all time after garnering an average 121 million of viewers back in 2015.
