Before filing the TRO, the NBA champion was caught on camera getting into an altercation with his fiancee's ex-husband at San Franscisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys NFC divisional round matchup.

AceShowbiz - Matt Barness lets people know that he's not one to play with. The NBA champion got caught on camera getting into an altercation with his fiancee's ex-husband at San Franscisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys NFC divisional round matchup on Sunday, January 22 and he didn't hesitate to show his disgust to the man.

TMZ reported that the heated altercation took place at around 3:40 P.M., just before the playoff match started at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.

In a video obtained by the news outlet, Matt was seen getting into a heated argument with his fiancee's former husband David Patterson Jr., though the former athlete claimed it was David who started it all by threatening and shoving him.

Things escalated when Matt suddenly spit on David. The two then continued to exchange words and get in a bit of a wrestling match. Thankfully, some people managed to separate the two men and they eventually walked off in separate ways.

Two days following the incident, Matt filed a temporary civil restraining order against David in L.A. county court. He noted that David was the aggressor, adding that he "hunted me down and aggressively confronted me."

According to Matt, David yelled profanities, threatened him and called him names. He additionally accused David of inciting the crowd around them "into a frenzy by yelling out my full name repeatedly."

He added that David "shoved me, and I was forced to push him off of me." The court documents also stated, "I did not want the altercation to physically escalate further, and out of frustration with him seeking me out and his unrelenting repeated harassment I spit in his direction in disgust."

He believed that David "is jealous of my relationship with his ex-wife." Not stopping there, he claimed David once threatened to shoot him with his gun back in 2022. Matt is requesting the court to restrict David from coming within 100 yards of him.

Fans, meanwhile, seemingly didn't think that Matt was the victim. Encouraging David to take the matters to court, one person wrote in an Instagram comment, "Sue for every little penny he has because to spit on someone is below low." Someone else added, "Spitting on someone and filing a restraining order is nasty work lol."

"Sorry but something about a man spitting on another is weak to me, like boy throw hands if you want confrontation," one other wrote. "Cmon Matt lol I thought he said he went to anger management," another comment read.
