AceShowbiz - Matt Barnes revealed that one of his children was recently rushed to a hospital. In an Instagram post, the former Los Angeles Lakers player claimed his son Zay had emergency surgery for appendicitis.
On Sunday, August 25, the 44-year-old shared a picture of his boy laying on a hospital gurney, flipping the bird to the camera. "My guys had a tough week," he began his caption.
"Hit by a car while jogging Wednesday, had a bad stomach ache Friday tried to play through the Mamba Invitational," the father of three further detailed, "couldn't sleep all Friday night decided to FINALLY tell his mom & I yesterday when he couldn't move."
"I took him to the emergency room & he had to have emergency appendix surgery Doctor said it was the largest appendix he had ever seen that hadn't ruptured," the athlete continued. "Thank you @uclahealth for taking care of my baby boy."
Matt concluded his message by expressing gratitude for everyone's support. "Appreciate the love & support from family & friends!! We're headed home," he stated.
Now that Zay has been discharged from the hospital, Matt uploaded a video of him reuniting with his brother, Carter, at their home. The siblings were quick to share a hug after Zay entered Carter's room.
Zay then gave his brother a look at his surgical incision. The clip, which ended with the two boys embracing each other, was captioned, "Reunited #DifferentKindaBond."
Matt shares Zay and Carter with his ex-wife Gloria Govan. The couple was married from 2013 to 2016. In 2021, Gloria wed Matt's former Los Angeles Lakers teammate, Derek Fisher.
As for Matt, he has moved on with Anansa Sims. The pair, who welcomed their first child together, a son named Ashton, in 2018, got engaged in December 2022 after he popped the big question to her in front of their Christmas tree.
