The School of the Art Institute of Chicago announces that the Grammy-winning artist's honorary doctorate degree, which was issued to him in May 2015, at the college has been rescinded.

AceShowbiz - Kanye West faces another repercussion in light of his anti-Semitic comments. On Thursday, December 7, The School of the Art Institute of Chicago announced that the "Donda" artist's honorary doctorate degree, which was given to the rapper in May 2015, at the college has been rescinded.

"The School of the Art Institute of Chicago condemns and repudiates Kanye West's (now know as Ye) anti-Black, antisemitic, racist, and dangerous statements, particularly those directed at Black and Jewish communities," the school said in a statement. "Ye's actions do not align with SAIC's mission and values, and we've rescinded his honorary degree."

Obtained by TMZ, a letter from SAIC saw president Elissa Tenny addressing the removal of Ye's honorary degree to members of the staff and student body. "After hearing from many of you, and conferring with the Board of Governors, the honorary degree awarded to Kanye West has been rescinded," the letter, which arrived four days after students launched a petition to demand that the school revoke Ye's honorary degree, read.

"This was a difficult decision to make, and one that has been deliberated thoroughly. There is no precedent in SAIC's more than 80 years of granting degree for rescinding one, and as an institution of higher education, we know we must uphold a higher standard in protecting freedom of expression. Though we firmly believe in the right to express a diversity of opinions and beliefs, the severity of his behavior made it clear that rescinding this honor was appropriate," it continued.

The removal came after Ye expressed adoration for Adolf Hitler in an interview on Alex Jones' "InfoWars". "I see good things about Hitler... every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler. I do love Hitler, I do love the Zionists - I love everyone," the Yeezy designer told the conspiracy theorist.

The "Jesus Is King" spitter doubled down on his remarks by adding, "I like Hitler... they (the Nazis) did good things too, we've got to stop dissing the Nazis all the time... the Jewish media has made us feel like the Nazis and Hitler have never offered anything of value to the world."
