AceShowbiz - Katy Perry has become the butt of the jokes after Rick Caruso lost his mayoral election in Los Angeles to Karen Bass. The "Roar" singer found herself being roasted by Twitter users as she publicly showed her support for the politician.
Among those poking fun at the "American Idol" judge was comedian Gareth Reynolds, who tweeted, "At the end of the day Rick Caruso spent 100 million + dollars to get everyone to hate Katy Perry." Fellow comic Elijah Daniel added, "katy perry smiling like a firework while losing most her fanbase over supporting Rick Caruso, before he loses being mayor (2022, colorized)."
Another user penned, "It is crazy to me that Katy Perry felt so strongly about voting for Rick Caruso and *posting about it* that she alienated and turned off a bunch of fans (pretty much every gay I know was appalled) and for WHAT?? He lost!!! A truly boneheaded move on her part!!!" Someone else chimed in, "Rick Caruso spent all that money just to lose… him and Katy Perry in a dark room somewhere with Firework playing on repeat."
Katy came under fire earlier this month after voting for Rick. People were disappointed because the former Republican donated nearly $1 million to Sen. Mitch McConnell and former President George W. Bush, who have backed anti-abortion policies.
On November 7, the fiancee of Orlando Bloom shared on Instagram some photos of herself inside the voting booth. She captioned the post by writing, "I am voting for a myriad of reasons (see the news) but in particular because Los Angeles is a hot mess atm. #letsgocaruso."
Unsurprisingly, many came against Katy. They include comedian Travon Free, who wrote on Twitter, "As much as the right try to spin it, Katy Perry voting for Rick Caruso is not an indication of anything other than a rich white woman voting for a fake democrat who will ultimately have no effect on the quality of her life but will worsen the lives of many others."
