AceShowbiz - The enthusiasm shown by Italian people for Timothee Chalamet's new movie may be a good sign for "Bones and All" box office result, but was not so for local police. Authorities had to shut down the red carpet of the film premiere in Milan due to safety concerns.
On Saturday evening, November 12, a large number of crowd gathered outside the Space Cinema Odeon, hoping to catch a glimpse of Chalamet. The gathering swelled to the point prompting safety concerns, prompting the police to cancel all red carpet activities.
The premiere eventually continued in a more limited capacity. Members of the press were turned away, while photos of attendees were taken inside the venue. Chalamet did not speak to reporters, though he, co-star Taylor Russell and director Luca Guadagnino were seen waving to the crowd from afar in a video taken inside the venue. The screening of the film also went on as planned, along with its scheduled introduction, according to Variety.
By comparison, Chalamet was able to take his time on the red carpet, approaching the public for autographs and photos during the movie premiere at the Venice Film Festival in Italy back in September. The same opportunity could not be afforded in Milan due to the over-enthusiasm.
In "Bones and All", Chalamet plays a cannibal lover. Based on the novel of the same name by Camille DeAngelis, the coming-of-age romantic film is a story of first love between a young woman learning how to survive on the margins of society and an intense and disenfranchised drifter, as they meet and join together for a thousand-mile odyssey that takes them through the back roads, hidden passages and trap doors of Ronald Reagan's America. But despite their best efforts, all roads lead back to their terrifying pasts and to a final stand that will determine whether their love can survive their otherness.
Russell stars as Maren Yearly, a young woman who wants to be someone people admire and respect. She wants to be loved. But her secret, shameful needs have forced her into exile. She hates herself for the bad thing she does, for what it's done to her family and her sense of identity; for how it dictates her place in the world and how people see her--how they judge her. She didn't choose to be this way.
The movie is set to open in U.S. theaters on November 18 after receiving critical acclaims at its Venice premiere.
