AceShowbiz - Toni Braxton distances herself from Twitter following Elon Musk acquisition. The Georgia Music Hall of Fame inductee is "appalled" by hate speech which she has found on the platform since the billionaire took control of the company.

On Friday, October 28, the singer took to the blue bird app to announce her decision to stay away from it, criticizing how the platform allows hate speech disguised as "free speech." She wrote, "I'm shocked and appalled at some of the 'free speech' I've seen on this platform since its acquisition."

"Hate speech under the veil of 'free speech' is unacceptable," the 55-year-old star went on condemning, "therefore I am choosing to stay off Twitter as it is no longer a safe space for myself, my sons and other POC."

Many have since supported Toni's decision, with one user saying, "Do what’s best to protect you and your family. I support you legend." Another agreed with the "Breathe Again" hitmaker as writing, "I couldn't agree more fav, it's ridiculous atp!"

A third user chimed in, "You are right free speech is good but sometimes one need a to know when to be quiet and when to talk." A fourth person replied to Toni'x tweet, "I certainly understand your choice, don't allow others to make you feel like you should what's best for you and your family," while someone else followed in Toni's footsteps, "I 100% agree with you and respect your decision I’m gonna stay away from social media for a while as well it’s very sad the things you see and hear on these platforms!"

Toni didn't go into specific detail about the kind of hate speech on Twitter which disturbed her, but Elon has confirmed that Kanye West's account, which was suspended earlier this month in the wake of his controversial anti-Semitic rants and White Lives Matter scandal, has been restored.

The 51-year-old businessman, who recently acquired Twitter in a $44 billion deal, wrote on the micro-blogging platform, "Twitter will be forming a content moderation council with widely diverse viewpoints. No major content decisions or account reinstatements will happen before that council convenes."

When an account called Republicans against Trumpism asked the new Twitter boss, "So why did you restore already Kanye West's account? Twitter should not be a platform to spew racism and antisemitism," he claimed, "Ye's account was restored by Twitter before the acquisition. They did not consult with or inform me."
