During his appearance in a recent episode of 'Drink Champs', the Murder Inc. founder shared that he learned about the 'Foolish' singer and Nelly's relationship after watching a basketball game on TV.

AceShowbiz - Fat Joe weighed in on Irv Gotti's remarks about Ashanti in a recent episode of "Drink Champs". Gotti received backlash for his comments, in which he shared that he was blindsided by the singer and Nelly's romance, and Joe was among those who slammed the Murder Inc. founder for his controversial comments.

On Sunday, August 7, Joe shared an hour-long video discussing the issues. "Whatever Irv has with Ashanti, is 20 years old," he said. "I know he was making some points that mean a lot to him.. But, when you keep ranting about somebody 20 years later, it felt like he's not over the young lady. Also we didn't know that they was f**king. The whole time, I was there, on tour - I never seen them together like that."

Joe went on to defend the "Foolish" singer, "I'm not saying they weren't because they were, there were rumors that they were, I never seen it. But I don't need to know! It's okay if it's a documentary, but to go on 'Drink Champs' and call her a b***h [and ] keep disrespecting her [is wrong]."

"I'm not the brother trying to stand up for Ashanti, Ja Rule was right next to him… I'm not telling stories about a girl I dated 20 years ago," he continued. "In fact, I hope you die. Leave me alone….. So when you're doing this, it looks like you're caught up and not over the s**t… On top of that, it brings less credibility to everything else you say."

During his appearance on "Drink Champs", Gotti claimed that he learned about Ashanti and Nelly's relationship after watching a basketball game on TV. At the time, he admitted that he was "in love" with the singer. "I can get past you wanting to be with Nelly," he shared, "Listen, at the time, when it happens, any man, it hurts [when] the chick you f**king are in love with is with this n***a."

He went on to say, "You wanna hear how I found out? This was God wanting me to find out. I was at home. NBA package, I like watching sports. 'Oh my God, what's this commotion going on in the stadium?' 'We just found out what the commotion is: Nelly has walked in with Ashanti.' "

Ashanti and Nelly, meanwhile, reunited for a performance of their collaboration "Body on Me" at a show in Oakland just days following Gotti's interview. Joining the likes of Ja Rule, Ma$e and Lil Jon on the bill for the "My 2000s Playlist" concert at Oakland Arena, Ashanti and Nelly performed their 2008 hit on Friday, August 5.
