AceShowbiz - Another rapper has fallen victim to gun violence. Chicago rapper Boss Top is reportedly one of the five people injured in a Fourth of July shooting at the Parkway Garden Homes, also known as O'Block.
According to the reports, the incident took place on early Monday morning, July 4. Police responded to a call of multiple people shot at about 12:20 A.M. in the 6500 block of South Martin Luther King Drive, said a spokesperson with the fire department.
One of the victims is a teen, who was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. A 30-year-old man, presumably Boss Top, was shot multiple times and admitted to a local hospital, while two 19-year-olds were treated for gunshot wounds to their legs. A man around 25 was also treated for a gunshot wound to the knee.
All five victims were listed in fair condition. Police said preliminary information indicates that the suspect may have been traveling in a black SUV. The suspect has not been identified yet and it's currently unknown if arrest has been made.
Boss Top, whose real name is Tyree Davis, grew up in Chicago and was a member of the Black Disciples gang. He is known for his association with the Chicago-based "drill" movement. Some of his most popular songs include "Hell Naw", "Come From" and "30 Choppaz". He has also collaborated with Waka Flocka Flame on the song "Bet He Won't".
The 30-year-old is said to be King Von and Lil Durk's close friend. He was also close friends with rapper Chief Keef before the two had a fallout in 2014. The two exchanged threats of violence via social media at the time.
By April of this year, his Spotify audience had grown to over 250,000 monthly listeners. Earlier this year, he publicly called out fellow rappers NBA YoungBoy a.k.a. YoungBoy Never Broke Again and DaBaby for being overrated.
Meanwhile, O'Block is a notorious low-income apartment complex located in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago known locally as O'Block after murder victim Odee Perry. The area is known as one of Chicago's most violent blocks. The complex is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
