In a getting-ready video for 2022 Met Gala, the 'drivers license' hitmaker admits to seeing colors whenever she listens to songs, before explaining the colors of her album tracks.

AceShowbiz - Olivia Rodrigo apparently has a neurological condition, but considers it a blessing. In her getting ready video for 2022 Met Gala, the "drivers license" hitmaker got into details on how her "baby synesthesia" affected the overall aesthetic of her debut album "SOUR".

When speaking about her all-purple looks for the 2022 Met Gala, the "good 4 u" hitmaker admitted that she suffered from synesthesia. "I also have like minor, baby synesthesia," she shared with Vogue, "So when I listen to songs, I'll like see colors."

Olivia went on noting, "Lots of the songs on 'SOUR' are purple." The 19-year-old singer further explained the colors of each of her album's tracks. " 'drivers license' is purple, but 'good 4 u' is like a purple-ly blue. 'jealousy, jealousy' is like bright red. 'deja vu' is like orange and pink and light purple," she divulged.

The "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" actress credited her condition for inspiring her to make an entire purple aesthetic for "SOUR", starting from merchandise for the album, her tour, her stage performance, and even her look on the 2022 Met Gala. "I like having purple as the cohesive color throughout my whole 'SOUR' era," she added.

Synesthesia is a neurological condition where one's brain processes data using several senses at once, resulting in an overlapping experience of one sense through another. There are two forms of synesthesia which are projective synesthesia, where people see colors, forms, or shapes and associative synesthesia, where people feel a strong connection between a stimulus and a sense that triggers it.

Olivia is not the only singer who suffers from this condition. Singer Billie Eilish also has synesthesia which affects how she sees life. Back in 2021, during her appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon", she explained, "For instance every day of the week has a color, a number, a shape. Sometimes things have a smell that I can think of, or a temperature, or a texture."

Elaborating further about her condition, the "Happier Than Ever" hitmaker stated that it inspired her creative process. "All of my videos for the most part have to do with synesthesia," she divulged to host Jimmy Fallon, "All of my artwork, everything I do live, all the colors for each song, it's because those are the colors for those songs."
