AceShowbiz - DaniLeigh has owned up to her mistake in the wake of "Yellow Bone" backlash. More than a year after she was accused of colorism in the song, the R&B singer admitted that she's "ignorant" for creating the track in the first place.

The 27-year-old expressed her remorse in a recent interview with Angie Martinez. "It was definitely a learning lesson for me and I just want to say to everybody that I'm super sorry because it just was a mistake. I'm a Dominican woman, I have family members that are dark-skinned, my daughter is a black girl. To even speak on skin tone, I realize how messed up that is now," she explained.

When asked whether she's aware that the song would create a debacle, Dani claimed, "No. When I did drop the snippet and saw how everyone reacted, I was like, 'I messed up.' " She continued, "I didn't super realize it at that time and that's why I responded like, defensive. But it was a horrible mistake. It was not a good moment, for sure, for me, and it was a hard time."

"In that time, like, a lot was going on in my life," the mother of one went on elaborating. "Me and [DaBaby] broke up, that happens, me and my family, I was pregnant, like, it was just all at once. So, I was like, what is God trying to teach me right now."

"I didn't have no idea," Dani further noted, emphasizing that she didn't know the term she used in the tune would caused the problem. "But I don't think I wrote the song intentionally to be like to praise light skins or anything, I just think I wasn't really thinking, it was really like ignorant."

Dani initially remained defiant when she faced criticism after sharing a preview of "Yellow Bone". She argued on Instagram, "Why can't I make a song about for my light skin baddies ?? Why y'all think I'm hating on other colors when there are millions of songs speaking on all types.. why y'all so sensitive & take it personal .. gahhhh damn."
