Chris Applebaum recalls working with Britney on 'Overprotected' music video in an Instagram post in which he details the moment when the pop star had a breakdown on the set over the split.

AceShowbiz - A music director of one of Britney Spears' music videos back in 2002 made a bombshell revelation about the pop star's breakup with Justin Timberlake. Chris Applebaum, who worked with Britney on "Overprotected", took to his Instagram account on Friday, April 22 to detail the moment when Britney had a breakdown on the set after being dumped by Justin via text message.
"2nd time my IG acct was hacked, but I have it back after 9 months, so here's a picture of me with @britneyspears before I grew the beard," so Chris began his caption alongside a picture of him with the "Oops!... I Did It Again" hitmaker. "This was taken on the 2nd shoot day for her 'Overprotected' video."
He recalled going to Britney's trailer to fetch her after she disappeared "at some point during the 2nd." He went on to share, "Her BF Justin had just broken up with her via text message. (Let me recommend to any who reads this: don't break up via text!)".
"We sat on the floor of her trailer for a minute, talked it out, and then rallied. I told her she should get out there & show Justin he made the biggest mistake of his life. That was just one of the stories from this shoot…," so he concluded.
Neither reps for Justin nor Britney have yet to respond to the claims.
Britney and Justin called it quits after three years of dating in 2002. The shocking split sparked cheating speculations as Britney was seen stepping out with choreographer Wade Robson. Justin later released a single titled "Cry Me a River" which apparently further fueled the rumors as the lyrics involved a tumultuous relationship.
Of writing the song, the former NSYNC membed previously shared in his 2018 memoir "Hindsight", "The feelings I had were so strong that I had to write it, and I translated my feelings into a form where people could listen and, hopefully, relate to it. People heard me and they understood it because we've all been there."
Prior to Chris' post, Britney called out Justin among others in an Instagram post back in March. "I had a calling last night from Jesus and you know what he said ???" the "Toxic" singer wrote before blasting people who had wronged her in the past. " 'Dear child … your mom had a serving with her book at the exact time when you needed her most …all for WHAT ??? FAME and ATTENTION !!!!' Your ex did the same thing … he served with his first album using your name claiming you did him dirty !!!!"
