A breast cancer survivor herself, the 'Good Morning America' anchor reveals that her partner Amber Laign's treatment has to be suspended because she suffered 'complications with the chemotherapy.'

AceShowbiz - A fight against cancer is never an easy one and Robin Roberts (II)' partner has hit a bump in the road. Amber Laign has been forced to suspend her breast cancer treatment due to complications with chemotherapy.

The "Good Morning America" co-anchor, who is celebrating her 20 years with the morning news program, revealed in a new interview with ET Online that Amber's treatment has been suspended "for the time." She explained, "She's had some complications with the chemotherapy."

Remaining hopeful, Robin added, "They're working it out. We're gonna figure it out. The prognosis is still very good." She went on sharing the silver lining of the situation, "I'm just thankful that her spirits have been lifted. Recently it was a little tough there when -- because she just wanted to get through it and to have this wrench thrown in our way -- but I was able to tell her, as most people [who] have gone through cancer, this happens."

Having survived breast cancer herself, Robin knows "there are peaks and valleys" in the journey against the illness. She opened up about her partner's journey, "And we went through a valley but it's more of a peak right now and I'm just very grateful for all the love and support that she's receiving."

When things get hard, Robin can always turn to her own new book "Brighter by the Day", which is described as "a guide to instilling hope and optimism into readers' lives, infusing their days with positivity and encouragement."

"I was struggling and then I was thinking, 'Robin, you have this book. You're talking to people about their valleys and how to get out of it and so, why don't you just actually listen to your own words?' " she said.

The 61-year-old went on acknowledging, "It's human nature to... you know 'Why me?' and then I was like, 'Why not me? Why not me?' I can handle this. I have the strength. I've been through this. I can help Amber. She's helping me, so I turned 'Why me?' into 'Why not me?' "

Robin announced in February that Amber, whom she has been dating for almost two decades, was diagnosed with breast cancer at the end of 2021 and underwent surgery in January. Robin herself was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and myelodysplastic syndrome in 2012. She said that Amber had helped her through her breast cancer battle and now it's her time to be there for Amber.
