The trailer, which is dropped during AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals, reveals Cortana and the background story of Master Chief and the Spartans.

AceShowbiz - The first trailer for "Halo" live-action TV series is finally here. Released by Paramount+ on Sunday, January 30, the new video offers fans a better look at the highly-anticipated series based on the Xbox hit video game.

The trailer, which was dropped during Sunday's AFC Championship Game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals, reveals Cortana which is the most highly advanced A.I. in human history. Voiced by actress Jen Taylor, Cortana is also potentially the key to the human race's survival.

The trailer also shares the background story of Master Chief (Pablo Schreiber) and the Spartans, a group of enhanced super-soldiers created by the United Nations Space Command. Billed as "humanity's best weapon" by Spartans creator Dr. Halsey (Natascha McElhone), Master Chief "was enhanced and trained for one purpose" which is to win this war against Covenant. Master Chief is further described as "lethal, upgradable and most importantly controllable."

Elsewhere in the trailer, Master Chief finds glowing artifact positioned near a stone wall. "Covenant forces appear to be excavating some kind of object," he says. "When I touched the object, I felt something. I felt different."

The group eventually discovers super-weapons named Halo as Master Chief calls on Cortana. "Cortana, I'm gonna need you now," Master Chief says, before instructing her to "find the Halo" and "win the war."

Prior to this, Schreiber spoke of the upcoming series during the 8th Annual Game Awards live stream. "It takes place very much in the universe that the video games created, but it's a TV show," the "American Gods" actor explained back in December. "We get to expand that universe and create stories in it. There's going to be some new characters that are introduced, there's going to be a lot of familiar characters that everyone will know from the game."

"Halo" will also star Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy and Danny Sapani. Ryan McParland, Burn Gorman and Fiona O'Shaughnessy will also be playing brand-new characters that were created for the TV show.

"Halo" premieres on March 24 on Paramount+.
