AceShowbiz - Having a brother or a sister is like having someone in your life that you have to compete with. Jealousy, competition against each other, bitter arguments and fallouts are just some of the common issues between them.
In a competitive entertainment industry, sibling feud is something we see all too often with some of the celebrities. Many Hollywood stars have less well-known siblings from whom they grow separated after achieving fame, which leads to resentment. In other cases, both siblings are highly successful but they are forced to compete for fame. Here are some celebrities who have the most fierce feuds with their siblings.
1. Nick, Joe and Kevin Jonas
Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Kevin Jonas signed as the Jonas Brothers with Hollywood Records in 2007 and sold millions of records. However, things weren't so rosy behind the scenes as they abruptly canceled their 19-city tour in 2013 due to a "deep rift within the band."
The sudden split put the future of their 10th album "V" in jeopardy. Following the split, Nick released a statement, pointing out that "nothing is working" and they "hate each other, basically."
After taking a six-year hiatus, the Jonas Brothers reunited, releasing their first single, "Sucker". The brothers have since released a new album, "Happiness Begins", and were planning a Las Vegas residency before the coronavirus pandemic suspended large in-person events.
2. Julia Roberts and Nancy Motes
Intense sibling feud apparently can cost lives, like the way Julia Roberts and her younger half-sister Nancy Motes took their rivalry to extremes. Nancy took her own life in 2014 at the age of 37.
Nancy was found dead from drug overdose in Los Angeles on February 9. She left a suicide note in which she said she couldn't wait to "belong to another family." According to reports, Nancy ended her life in an attempt to damage Julia's career and ruin her chances of winning an Oscar.
Three months prior to Nancy's tragic death, the last words that Julia ever spoke to her were, "I want you dead and gone. I'm drawing my knife in the sand!" Nearly a month after Nancy's death, the "Pretty Woman" actress broke her silence. "It's just heartbreak," she said. "[Nancy] took control and ended her pain."
3. Prince William and Prince Harry
Ever since Prince Harry made the decision to leave the Royal Family, the true extent of his rivalry with Prince William has come to light. In a bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey last March, Harry told the media mogul that he and his brother are "on different paths."
Moreover, when Harry made the shocking allegations that a member of his family uttered racist comments about his son, Archie, William gave a rather cold response. Not stopping there, William reportedly stopped Harry and his wife Meghan Markle from holding a christening ceremony for their daughter Lilibet at St. George's Chapel at Windsor.
Even at Prince Philip's funeral, the warring brothers were quarreling just minutes after they were beyond camera vision. "There they were, at each other's throats as fiercely as ever," one alleged longtime friend said of the siblings' rivalry. "The rage and anger between those two has grown so incredibly deep. Too many harsh and wounding things have been said."
4. Michael and Jermaine Jackson
The way Michael Jackson skyrocketed to fame above his siblings apparently left his older brother Jermaine Jackson consumed with jealousy. In 1991, Jermaine fired a clear shot with his single "Word to the Badd!!", in which he seemingly digs at his brother's changing appearance.
The song contains the lyrics, "But it's you always starin' in the mirror. Constantly fakin' it, ain't no mistakin' it. Get a grip 'cause you're not far from breakin' it. Thinkin' about the time when we used to be close." It's also reported that Jermaine's ex-wife confessed the track "was his jealous response to producers who abandoned his recording to work with Michael instead."
Following Michael's death, Jermaine admitted that he regretted making his feud with the king of pop a public consumption. "Enough has become enough... After much soul-searching, it is clearly time for us to live by Michael's words about love not war," he said in 2012.
5. Kyle and Kim Richards
For years, Kyle Richards and Kim Richards have made headlines due to their tumultuous relationship. There are numerous reasons as to why the sisters have been feuding with each other, beginning when Kim's dog bit the hand of Kyle's daughter which left her hospitalized for several days.
Additionally, Kim went through some personal issues and was recovering from years of alcoholism. However, she didn't receive the support she had hoped for from Kyle who was critical of her at times.
As fans may recall, Kyle confronted Kim in the back of a limo in an infamous 2011 scene of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills", with both sisters slinging insults at each other. "Kim, you act like an insane person," Kyle told her sister, adding, "I'm so sick of your crap, everybody is, everybody's sick of what you put us through."
6. Liam and Noel Gallagher
Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher joined forces to form one of the most revered bands of all time, Oasis, but the siblings' relationship has been rocky for so many years. Their feud began after the "Wonderwall" group split in 2009.
Then in 2011, Liam sued Noel for "lies" over Oasis split. "I have taken legal action against Noel Gallagher for statements he made claiming Oasis pulled out of the 2009 'V Festival' [in] Chelmsford gig because I had a hangover. That is a lie and I want Oasis fans and others who were at V to know the truth," he said.
Recently, Noel revealed the real reasons that led to the breakup of the band. "Liam gave us a load of clobber, not just me, he gave the band it," said the 54-year-old rocker last October. "He went f**king mental. He said, 'If you didn't f**king want it, you should have just said you didn't f**king want it, you c**t.' If push comes to shove, that was the beginning of the end." He previously blamed Liam's behavior for the split in 2009, insisting, "I simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer."
7. Madonna and Christopher Ciccone
Aside from being known for her music, Madonna is known for her on-and-off beef with her younger brother, Christopher Ciccone. The feud began after the publication of Christopher's bestselling book, "Life with My Sister Madonna", in which he shares unflattering details of his relationship with the Grammy-winning singer.
In the book, which left Madonna stunned, Christopher described his sister as mean, bossy, sweaty and moody, noting that she had demeaned him and underpaid him for his service to her for over two decades. He also claimed that the "Like a Virgin" hitmaker is "sex obsessed."
However, in 2019, Madonna seemingly buried the hatchet with Christopher for the sake of her dad Silvio Anthony "Tony" Ciccone. "We are at peace now and just spoke last week," Chris told Radar Online in November that year. "Madonna has been great! She regularly speaks to our dad while some of our siblings work at the winery. We are all united."
8. Kim and Kourtney Kardashian
Of all the Kardashian-Jenner sisters, it's always Kim Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian who seem to be feuding. Kim is often making harsh comments about her older sister, branding her the least interesting to look at and criticizing her sense of style.
The pair famously got into an epic brawl on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians". In season 18 of the family reality show, they had a physical fight, with both sisters swinging at each other.
Then in March 2020, Kim, who has also been a longtime critic of Kourtney's work ethic and "attitude," told Jimmy Fallon about the infamous fight, "I don't really ever resort to violence like that, but she scratched me so hard. You didn't really get to see that detail." Despite the dramatic moment, the sisters seem to be on good terms now.
9. Kelly and Aimee Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne and Aimee Osbourne, who opted not to join parents Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne on their family reality show "The Osbournes", reportedly became estranged after falling out in 2014. In a 2021 interview, the former star of "Fashion Police" confirmed that they're not on speaking terms, noting that they're "really different."
"She doesn't understand me and I don't understand her," Kelly further explained during an appearance on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast in May that year. Kelly's admission came after Aimee spoke about their relationship back in 2015.
At the time, Aimee shared, "I wouldn't say there is an ease between us, but there is an acceptance. Do we socialize? No." Meanwhile, mom Sharon said in 2018, "I know that my eldest girl, Aimee, left home at 16 and she couldn't live in our house because we were filming and it drove her insane."
10. Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears
As for the ongoing feud between Britney Spears and Jamie Lynn Spears, it all started after the "Zoey 101" alum criticized the #FreeBritney movement in 2019. Then things got messy after Jamie Lynn's tell-all interview with "Good Morning America" earlier this month, during which she recalled an alleged moment when her older sister pulled a knife out and locked the both of them in a room.
Upon learning of the claims, Britney wrote in an Instagram post, "The topic about the knife which is ironically the only lie you've ever told in your whole life." She sarcastically continued, "I'm sorry Jamie Lynn, I wasn't strong enough to do what should have been done … slapped you and Mamma right across your f**king faces!!!!! You selfish little brat !!!"
Britney then issued a forceful cease and desist letter to Jamie Lynn, demanding her younger sibling to leave her out of the publication of "Things I Should Have Said" and slamming her sister for "airing false or fantastical grievances." In response, Jamie Lynn's lawyer insisted that Jamie Lynn's book is based on "her own experiences and her own trauma" and that the letter "fails to specify any legal wrongdoing whatsoever."
