When opening up about her wedding with her now-husband, the 'Parks and Recreation' alum also opens up about motherhood, saying, 'I've never been happier in my life.'

AceShowbiz - Jenny Slate kicked off 2022 by becoming a married woman. In a new interview, the "Gifted" actress revealed that she secretly tied the knot with fiance Ben Shattuck on New Year's Eve in their living room.

The 39-year-old detailed her nuptials when sitting down with Marie Claire. "We were planning on a [wedding] that ended up being almost 200 people, and then now, it's just our parents and siblings. We each invited six friends," she first explained.

"I actually like it. I like it better," the former on-and-off girlfriend of Chris Evans further gushed. "I didn't realize how the large thing was making me feel uncomfortable, a little bit. Just a little."

This is Jenny's second marriage. She was previously married to filmmaker Dean Fleischer-Camp, with whom she collaborated on the "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" books and short films, from 2012 to 2016.

Jenny announced her engagement to Ben back in September 2019. "He took me to France and made a picnic and made me feel happy and free and then he asked me to marry him and i screamed YES," she wrote on Instagram at the time. "I love you @benshattuck_art, you are the kindest and brightest and I am so grateful and here we go and keep going."

In February 2021, the "Parks and Recreation" alum and her now-husband welcomed their first child together, daughter Ida Lupine. Now in an interview with Marie Claire, she opened up about how wonderful it is for her to be a mother.

"I only realized this after I had the baby, but I thought being a mother would be like a replica of my own mother's experience with motherhood," she said. "At least, how I perceived it: in which she really, really, really loves us [Jenny and her two sisters] so much, and also, she often seemed really stressed out, and at loose ends, and at her wits' end, and exhausted, and splattered in clay."

"Instead, I feel like it's been the opposite of that for me. Not at all that it's not difficult and challenging to have a newborn baby," the new mom further explained. "There are so many profound challenges, but I've never been happier in my life. I feel like I can finally be what I want to be."
