Fans have mixed reactions to the collaboration as some people criticize the rapper's decision to bring in the controversial artist to the stage, while some others love their performance.

AceShowbiz - Lil Durk treated fans to several collaborative stage performances at MLK Freedom Fest at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Saturday, January 15. According to Rolling Stone, the Chicago rapper brought country star Morgan Wallen to perform their joint song "Broadway Girls" at the event.

Introducing his controversial guest, Durk described Wallen as "genuine at heart." Defending the "Sand in My Boots" singer who faced backlash for using the N-word in an old video, the rapper said, "Can't nobody cancel s**t without me saying it, you know what I'm saying?"

Fans had mixed reactions to the collaboration. Criticizing Durk's decision to bring Wallen with him, one person wrote in an Instagram comment, "That crowd does not deserve Morgan." Another fan asked, " Wait, is that that white boy saying the N word?"

Meanwhile, some others were loving the performance. "That's my song and I love it because it's him stepping out his comfort zone and that's awesome to see," one user said. Another person echoed the sentiment, noting, "They killed it and thanks for sharing this!!"

"Love love love! Glad this was performed!!!!" someone excitedly penned. One other person revealed that they believed that "everyone deserves a second chance....EVERYONE."

Wallen faced huge backlash after a video featuring him using a racial slur surfaced online. After it went viral, the singer, who was at the top of his career, got his contract with his record label Big Loud suspended "indefinitely." Additionally, Spotify, Apple and some radio stations across the country decided to remove his music from playlists.

He later issued a statement to the New York Times, apologizing for his action. "I'm embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better," he said at the time.
