AceShowbiz - Reality TV star-turned-lifestyle queen Kristin Cavallari went on a couple of dates with her estranged husband after they split, just to make sure she had made the right choice to file for divorce.

The former "Laguna Beach" and "The Hills" star realized she and Jay Cutler no longer had the connection they once had over dinner and drinks.

"Jay and I actually went on a couple dates, like, months and months and months ago," she told the "Off the Vine" podcast, revealing divorcing the former American football star was "probably the best decision I've ever made."

Kristin added, "I come from divorced parents and I was like, 'I don't want my kids growing up thinking that this is a good relationship...' I got to see my mom remarry and be in a good relationship, so that I knew what one was. I mean, I wanted my kids to see me happy. I just did. And they're better off."

"They've adjusted really well, not that there's ever a perfect age for it, but they were at good ages... so, I'm glad that it happened when it did."

Cavallari and Cutler share kids nine-year-old Camden Jack, seven-year-old Jaxon Wyatt, and five-year-old Saylor James.

Since the split, Kristin has been linked to country star Chase Rice, while Cutler reportedly dated singer and actress Jana Kramer.
