Aside from the pop star's 'Cool for the Summer' music video from 2015, the former star of 'Dance Moms' reveals that Jenna Dewan's performance on 'Lip Sync Battle' helps her realize her sexual identity too.

AceShowbiz - JoJo Siwa has opened up more about her sexuality journey. In a new interview, the former "Dance Moms" star credited Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer" music video from 2015 for her "gay awakening" moment.
When speaking to the "Sorry Not Sorry" hitmaker on "4D With Demi Lovato" podcast, the 18-year-old star revealed, "I've been figuring out my gay awakenings recently. I think I realized that my very first gay awakening was Jenna Dewan's performance on 'Lip Sync Battle'," she said, referring to the dancer's interpretation of "Pony" by Ginuwine on the show. She then added, "I think that was one of them. But do you remember your dancer, her name is JoJo Gomez, and you did 'Cool for the Summer' together? I remember seeing that and just being a little too interested."
JoJo went on to say that when speaking with her girlfriend Kylie Prew the day before the interview, she revealed that Demi was one of her first sexual awakenings as well. "She said she went to your concert ... she had to have been 12 or 13, and she was there with her mom," the former Nickelodeon star said and laughed.
Demi cheered, claiming that they were "so happy I could play a role" in JoJo's awakening, before talking about how they approached writing and releasing the song back in 2015. "That song for me was actually my way of sharing with the world without confirming that I was bisexual ... I didn't come out until 2017. But 'Cool for the Summer' was, like, 2014 or 2015," the "Dancing with the Devil" singer said. "I'm so happy you can see a little glimpse of that pride through that performance."
JoJo came out publicly as gay in January. At the time, she took to her Instagram account to share a nearly 15-minute video in which she said that she is "technically" pansexual but also comfortable identifying as gay. A month later, the "Kid in a Candy Store" singer made her relationship with her girlfriend Kylie Instagram official with a photo of them holding hands.
In April, JoJo opened up to PEOPLE about her sexual identity, saying, "I still don't know what I am. It's like, I want to figure it out. And I have this joke. Her name is Kylie. And so I say that I'm 'Ky-sexual.' " Elaborating further, she told the outlet, "But like, I don't know, bisexual, pansexual, queer, lesbian, gay, straight. I always just say gay because it just kind of covers it or queer because I think the keyword is cool."
