While voicing support for the disqualified sprinter, the 'I'll Be Missing You' rapper compares her case to the swimmer's, in which he was able to compete in the Olympics after a photo of him smoking weed from a bong leaked in 2009.

AceShowbiz - Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' remark about Sha'Carri Richardson and Michael Phelps has angered many on social media. Namedropping the swimmer while doubling down on his support for the disqualified sprinter, the "Coming Home" rapper found himself landing in hot water.

The 51-year-old first voiced his support for Sha'Carri via Twitter and Instagram on Wednesday, July 7. "It's f**ked up and my heart is broken for @itskerii having her lifelong dream stripped away for using a legal substance," he began his message.

"I'm tired of white people sitting in a room making up decisions that affect our hopes and dreams. They will keep treating our athletes like slaves and entertainment until we shut down on these people," he went on arguing. "Said from LOVE with love. [black heart emoji]."

Hours later, Diddy tried to offer a clarification for his previous post. "The point I'm making is that marijuana has been used against my people since some white people in an office (DEA/FBI) saw it as a way to entrap Black Jazz artists to shut down the movement happening in Harlem," he explained.

"That's the real reason why it started, you can research the history. It started from an evil plot, and now this plot is affecting our future," the MC further stressed. "So many of our brothers, sisters, mothers, daughters and sons are rotting in jail for marijuana and it's JUST NOT RIGHT."

"Now, to see them using this against a young Black woman that is on the edge of her greatness, all because some white men decided to make it illegal is shameful," the father of six concluded. "Let me be very clear, marijuana does not make you run faster. That's a fact. This whole situation is bulls**t, and if they let Michael Phelps swim they should #LETHERRUN!!"

Diddy has since drawn criticism for stating the wrong fact about Michael. One Twitter user in particular elaborated, "Michael Phelps never tested positive prior or during the Olympics. He was suspended based on a photo of him smoking months later. Ya gotta do your research King."

Another raged, "Michael Phelps was suspended for 3 months and never tested positive. He [was pictured] smoking a year before the Olympics. Stop using Michael Phelps as an example." A third suggested, "You really need to hire better people to post for you, hire people to actually do the research. Michael Phelps passed all his drug test before, during, and after the Olympics. His Situation happened after the games and he was suspended for more than 3 months."

This came just a day after Sha'Carri had her name removed from the US Olympic Track and Field Team due to a positive marijuana test. It means she will not be competing in the 4x100 relay event at the Tokyo Olympics.
