Valerie Bertinelli Joins Demi Lovato's 'Hungry', Ke$ha Leads Musical Podcast Series

The 'Valerie's Home Cooking' star has been tapped to play Demi's onscreen mother in the upcoming TV pilot while the 'Tik Tok' hitmaker is signed on for 'Electric Easy'.

AceShowbiz - Valerie Bertinelli has signed on to play Demi Lovato's mother in new comedy pilot "Hungry".

Lovato, who will executive produce the TV series alongside her manager Scooter Braun and writer Suzanne Martin, will play a food stylist struggling with dietary and men issues, who creates a self-help group with friends all looking for love.

Bertinelli will play Lisa, a restaurant owner with emotional eating problems.

Anna Akana, Alex Brightman, Ashley D. Kelley, Jay Klaitz, and Rory O'Malley have also signed up as regulars on the new show.

Ironically, Bertinelli hosts her own cooking show, "Valerie's Home Cooking", on Food Network and also stars in "Kids Baking Championship".

In another news, Ke$ha is to star in a musical sci-fi podcast series.

"Electric Easy" will premiere on 19 July on Spotify and other podcast services.

Created by Vanya Asher, "Electric Easy" is set in Los Angeles and revolves around a subculture of androids.

Kesha will play Zephyr, the MC at underground nightclub the Electric Easy, in the 10-episode series, which also features singer/songwriter Chloe Bailey, Mason Gooding, Frances Fisher, Lachlan Watson, Sean Maguire, and Brendan Jordan.

Kesha and Bailey have both recorded original songs for the project.

"I had so much fun getting the opportunity to write and perform new music while immersing myself in this heartfelt story," Kesha said in a statement. "It was wonderful working with so many talented actors on a podcast truly unlike anything I've ever listened to before."

"It's a captivating story that confronts so many social issues, celebrating and highlighting the struggles of the LGBTG+ community, and gives a perspective on AI (artificial intelligence) that I've never heard or seen before. I cannot wait for everyone to hear it."
