Wendy's addresses the reports regarding James Bondenstedt's alleged donation to Trump in response to a follower's inquiry, stating, 'We never have and will never contribute to a presidential campaign.'

AceShowbiz - People recently launched a cancel party against Wendy's after it was reported that the company's CEO, James Bondenstedt, had donated $440,000 to the president and the Republican National Committee. Following the reports, Wendy's took to its official Twitter account to deny them and show support to black community.

"Our voice would be nothing without Black culture. Right now, a lot of people are hurting because of blatant racism against Black people. Their voices need to be heard. Period. #BlackLivesMatter," so it tweeted on Wednesday, June 3.

In a separate post, it continued, "We're about putting our money where our mouth is. So here's our mouth. We are committed to donating $500k to support social justice, the youth and education in the Black community starting with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and we'll have receipts. In the coming days, we'll be using our Twitter account to amplify Black voices. Because what's the point of this big platform if we don't use it for what matters during times like these?"

Wendy's later addressed the reports regarding Bondenstedt's alleged donation to Trump in response to a follower's inquiry. "Would you be willing to speak out about the accusations that your company is supporting Donald Trump's 2020 re-election campaign?" asked the user, to which the franchise replied, "We never have and will never contribute to a presidential campaign. For the record our CEO has always kept that same energy too. Facts."

Actually, even if Bondenstedt did donate to Trump, it has nothing to do with Wendy's because Bondenstedt, in fact, is the CEO of Muy! Companies. It operates several franchises, including Wendy's, Pizza Huts and Taco Bells, employing more than 25,000 people nationwide. Todd Penegor is the acting CEO of Wendy's, and neither him nor Wendy's itself has ever donated to Trump.

Nevertheless, the wrong news has caught the attention of democratic supporters, who have denounced the fast food chain on Twitter, making #WendysIsOverParty trending. "F**K WENDYS," someone tweeted. "Well [s**t]. Looks like @Wendys supports #DictatorTrump. Shame I can never eat there again, I really enjoyed the 4 for $4," another tweeted, adding, "Wendys supports a 'man' who supports turning the military on us and systemic racism."
