The former Destiny's Child singer has been open about her mental struggle as she checked herself in to a Los Angeles mental health facility to treat her depression back in July 2018.

AceShowbiz - Michelle Williams (II) makes sure everyone knows that seeking professional help for mental health issues is nothing to be ashamed of. Making use of her Twitter account, the former member of Destiny's Child urged people to process their "trauma/abuse with trusted professionals."

The singer wrote on Saturday, April 11, "It's ok to process your trauma/abuse with trusted professionals in the area of mental health!! Counseling and Therapy is one of God's gifts too!"

One of her followers then reacted to the advice, asking, "But what about the Doctor bishops elders reverend doctors?" to which the 40-year-old responded, "Absolutely not!! If they don't have training, certification in mental health counseling!"

She went on explaining, "Prayer is awesome but so is getting to the root of behaviors and responses to trauma and abuse."

This arrives after she opened up about her struggle with insecurity that almost made her quit singing. "I like engaging with people on social media," Williams said. "I don't want to not talk to the people that are being gracious... But sometimes before you get to the nice ones you have to get through a couple mean ones," she said at the time.

"Apparently I don't have the most commercially appealing voice or whatever. People have their favorites, but vocally I was not a favorite in the group, and that stuck with me," the "Survivor" singer continued.

"It's still a struggle," she admitted. "I'm in a theater show as we speak, and... I hope the people like it. That's what we signed up for--people are buying their tickets and you want to make sure they're pleased so they'll continue to support you on the next move you do. At the same time, you have to go up there and be you, not bend or conform... no, do it the way God gave it to you. Be who you are."

Michelle has been open about her mental struggle. Back in July 2018, she checked herself in to a Los Angeles mental health facility to treat her depression. "For years I have dedicated myself to increasing awareness of mental health and empowering people to recognize when it's time to seek help, support and guidance from those that love and care for your wellbeing," she said in a statement at the time. "Today I proudly, happily and healthily stand here as someone who will continue to always lead by example as I tirelessly advocate for the betterment of those in need."
