According to sources who claim to have known her since her days in Maryland, the model and actress never used British accent when she was still living in the city.

AceShowbiz - Jodie Turner-Smith is facing new accusations. Words on the street are that the "Queen & Slim" star is faking her British accent to make her seem more exotic than other black people in the Hollywood industry.

According to sources who claimed to have known her since her days in Maryland, Jodie only picked her British accent once she went to Los Angeles to make her seem more exotic as she allegedly believed that exotic Blacks are "in" at the moment in the industry. The sources also alleged that the model and actress never used British accent while living in Maryland.

Even though Jodie was born in Peterborough in the United Kingdom, she moved to the U.S. with her mother once her parents divorced and spent most of her entire life there. She attended Gaithersburg High School in Maryland and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2008. She has been living in L.A since 2009.

Jodie has yet to respond to the accusations.

Jodie is currently pregnant with her and Joshua Jackson's first child together. She debuted her baby bump at a pre-2020 Golden Globes party that she attended with her actor husband, and appeared to reveal the sex of their baby during her appearance on "The Graham Norton Show". Joined by Margot Robbie, Jim Carrey and her "Queen & Slim" co-star Daniel Kaluuya, she said of her unborn baby, "I think she's bored. ...There's been no kicking."

She later added, "I've just got a couple months left. I'm at the finish line, I think. Well not the finish line, but very close." This prompted Jim, who has an adult daughter, to do a tongue-in-cheek impression of an 8-month-old fetus kicking and punching its amniotic sac in its mother's uterus.
