Ben Cook, who plays Jets gang leader Riff in the musical show, is being replaced by Broadway newcomer Dharon E. Jones after he was injured during a recent preview performance.

According to the New York Post's Page Six, Cook suffered a fall onstage which has put him out of action.

The news comes after the musical's opening night was pushed back to 20 February, after leading man Isaac Powell seriously injured his knee while performing as Tony.

Director Ivo van Hove's musical had previously been set to open in New York on 6 February.
