AceShowbiz - Miley Cyrus has added "freedom" to her tattoo collection. In the middle of her divorce process with estranged husband Liam Hemsworth, the "Wrecking Ball" hitmaker seemingly declared her independence with the new art etched on back of her right hand.
On Saturday, December 7, celebrity tattoo artist Daniel Winter took to Instagram to share photos of the "Malibu" singer's latest ink. Posting two photos of the delicate design, he noted that the word tattooed above the 27-year-old's knuckles was done using single needle.
The "Freedom" tattoo might be a reference to Cyrus' 2019 single "Mother's Daughter" from her second extended play "She Is Coming". In the chorus of the song, she sang, "Don't f**k with my freedom/ I came back to get me some/ I'm nasty, I'm evil/ Must be something in the water or that I'm my mother's daughter."
It was not the only brand new tattoo Cyrus got from Winter. Hours after posting photos of the "Freedom" design, the tattoo artist also known as Winter Stone revealed that the former "Hannah Montana" star has also etched a note she received from Yoko Ono on her left shoulder.
Along with a picture of a tattoo that read, "I'm proud of you, yoko," Winter dished, "Hand written note to @mileycyrus from @yokoonoofficial what a special tattoo for you Miley!" He went on to gush, "I was honored to tattoo this for you!"
Cyrus and her estranged husband Hemsworth have been married for less than a year when they surprised many with their split announcement. Back in August, her representative issued a statement that read, "Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time."
"Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers," the rep continued on. "Please respect their process and privacy."
A little over a week later, Hemsworth filed the divorce papers and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split. He has since been linked romantically to actress Maddison Brown, while his estranged wife is romancing longtime friend Cody Simpson.
