Court documents uncover that Sony Pictures has agreed to make the payment to the late director's film company, New Deal Productions, from the 2001 movie starring Tyrese Gibson.

AceShowbiz - John Singleton's estate is about to get a healthy boost after Sony Pictures agreed to pay over $500,000 (£389,963) from the filmmaker's 2001 flick "Baby Boy".
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, Sony Pictures has agreed to pay $515,472 (£402,030) to the late director's film company, New Deal Productions, from the movie, which stars Tyrese Gibson, Taraji P. Henson and Snoop Dogg.
"Baby Boy", which was distributed by Sony and its subsidiary TriStar Pictures, made $29.3 million (£18.2 million) in the U.S. box office, with a budget of around $16 million (£12.5 million).
The papers suggest John had requested a formal audit for money the film made a while back, with the company claiming the settlement was agreed prior to John's death.
The "Boyz n the Hood" writer/director passed away on April 28 aged 51, more than a week after being placed in a coma after suffering a stroke. Following his passing, his mother Sheila Ward was named the executor of the estate.
